It all started when…

I had my second baby Catalina, I knew I wanted to create a space that would help other mom’s connect with each other to bond over the happiest or scariest moments motherhood brings. I’ve experienced PPD and anxiety which often made me feel isolated with no community to turn to.

On September 28, 2019 I decided to take a risk and try something new by hosting my first “Mama Meetup” to bring mother’s together and talk about their motherhood journey.

For the first meeting I intended on creating a focus topic about breastfeeding, along with a goal tracker for each mama and some breastfeeding facts that many women don’t know. Unfortunately everyone canceled at the last minute and I was sitting in a room full of donuts, sugar cookies, and both my daughters. But— instead of breaking down in this moment, I let it fuel me! I felt encouraged to work harder at reaching out to friends, strangers and marketing this movement. After the first failed meetup, I held one in New York and another locally in Salt Lake which were both successful!

I am telling you my story because I want you to know how much this community means to me and how many other mother’s out there need a support system. I could have given up and continued to feel lonely and depressed but that is not a healthy solution for myself or any of you.

You’ve probably heard the saying “When raising a child it takes a village” and this is very true. Before you let fear or doubt consume you, come to a meeting and give it a chance. You can be stepping into an opportunity of making a new friend, take the weight of the world off your shoulders, and/or finally have some time for yourself with a few laughs!
